Listing MY Home For Sale

Listing MY Home For Sale

I definitely pride myself in the understanding and relatedness I have with my clients and I truly feel that I am better at my craft because I have personally gone through the process of building, buying and selling several of my own homes.

I have just listed my home for sale and I thought I would take this opportunity to share with you my experience. I think you will find that you will see how familiar this seems and feels to your own personal home selling endeavour.

I worked a MINIMUM of 3 hours a night for 5 straight days prepping my home for sale. I, a mother, felt a true sense of guilt not being able to spend as much time with my kids as I usually do. However, I knew that this was the sacrifice that I had to make in order to present prospective buyers with something that I am truly proud of. I personally understand (and am presently living through) the emotional roller coaster that prepping, listing and selling your home can be, therefore I never treat your home selling experience as just a transaction. Whether this has been your home for a short period of time, or this is the home you watched your children grow up in, I too deal with the same emotions you may feel – anxiousness, fear and uncertainty. I also wonder how I am going to coordinate getting my kids out of the house and how I will manage to whip my house into tip-top shape before I have to show my home to a potential buyer.

Although I am a real estate professional, from the early stages of listing your home to the exciting time of signing the papers at the lawyer’s office, I can relate to every feeling! I feel this is a very important quality to look for when interviewing a potential listing agent as selling your home is one of those big and important moments in your life. It is important to ask your potential realtor the last time he or she has gone through the process of selling their own home as they may not have experienced these feelings in quite a long time.

On a final note for today, I thought I would share one of my daily “home selling jitters”. Although I don’t have an appointment scheduled for today, I made sure to keep all of my lights on and left my house in model home condition. You can never be too prepared!
