How to Properly Hang Artwork
In 80% of the homes I view on a daily basis, I see the same mistakes made again and again by home owners with regard to their hanging artwork.
The way artwork is hung can make or break a space. While selling your home, it is especially important to have your artwork hung correctly. Instead of focusing on your home as a whole, picky buyers comment when they are distracted by the amount of hanging artwork or artwork that is hung incorrectly.
Rather than creating distraction, here are 5 tips to properly enhance your home with hanging artwork:
1) Always hang pictures with 2 wall hooks in order to keep the picture level
2) Hang pieces somewhere between 53" and 57". This hanging height may look too low to you at first, but once you stand back it will look just right.
3) Don't wing it! When hanging a group of pictures, figure it out on the floor first like you would a puzzle. When you are happy with the arrangement on the floor, then you can replicate it on the wall.
4) Use the correct hooks to properly hold the weight of the picture. If you are unsure of the picture's weight, opt for a hook that supports more weight than you estimate. Better to be safe than sorry!
5) When hanging an arrangement, it is best to start where space is limited, such as near a window or light switch. That way if you make a mistake you can adjust it at the opposite end.
